Quartz Countertops: Non-Porous, Low-Maintenance & Durable

Overview of Quartz Countertops

Engineered quartz countertops are made using crushed natural quartz mixed with resins to form a unique non-porous, man-made material that can be used for countertops in kitchens, bathrooms, and areas that experience heavy foot traffic. Quartz is more resistant to stains, scratches, and heat than most natural stones; it will hold its color consistently; and it provides an excellent consistent look with various colors, patterns, and edges for everyday family use. It offers great strength and durability due to its composition of crushed quartz crystal and resin!

Advantages of Quartz Countertops

Non-porous and Hygienic

The non-porous nature of the top keeps liquid from penetrating, as well as discouraging bacteria growth, permitting quick and hygienic cleaning and greatly reducing the chances of staining in commercial kitchens and bathrooms for continued satisfaction at home.

Low Maintenance and Durability

Quartz resists scratches, heat, and most everyday stains better than most materials, reducing daily maintenance needs while providing a uniform look. Provided they are appropriately maintained, quartz countertops will keep their shine and the integrity of their structure for decades.

Wide Design Options

An engineered quartz surface offers consistently uniform color and pattern throughout all slabs, allowing for continuity in appearance whether used on large counters or islands. There are many ways to use engineered quartz with its broad selection of colors, veining styles, and edge profiles.

Repairable and Long-Lasting

A variety of scratches and chips can generally be repaired by a professional who uses resin bonded materials and sophisticated polishing techniques that can restore the original smoothness and shine of the countertop. Most importantly, no need ever to replace the entire countertop, as you only need to touch up the small area(s) that have been affected.

Quartz Countertops

The use of resin combined with natural quartz to create an engineered product gives rise to a high-performance countertop material; one that is made to withstand high amounts of use, remains non-porous, will not stain or etch, and has a uniform color throughout. Because quartz countertops are manufactured through an engineering process, the resulting surface is extremely dense, very resistant to scratching, and easy to maintain using regular soap and water. With many colors, patterns, and textures to choose from, quartz countertops will accent any other type of surface; metal, wood, or tile; and will provide lasting value and beauty even under daily use.

F&Q About Quartz Countertops

Are quartz countertops heat resistant?

Quartz countertops are more heat resistant than most other natural stone countertops; however, direct exposure to extremely high heat can damage the resin. To protect your quartz from damage, always use a trivet or hotpad when placing hot pots or pans on it and do not place hot pots or pans directly on the surface of the countertop.
Because quartz is non-porous it has a high level of resistance to staining by food or drink. Acidic material as well as some other products can cause a dulled appearance if allowed to stay on the surface long enough. For optimal results, you should wipe up spills right away and use recommended cleaning products.
While quartz countertops cost more than laminate or tile, they typically cost less than luxury granite countertops. It is easier to estimate the cost of quartz because of the man-made materials it is composed of (compared to natural materials); this makes installation easier and maintenance less costly in the long run, making up for the higher initial costs.
Quartz countertops do not require any sealing, as their surfaces are non-porous. For cleaning, simply using soap and water will suffice, while avoiding harsh cleaning products and abrasive materials will allow the resin finish to last for a number of years.
