Synthetic Stone Benchtops: Durable, Low-Maintenance Solutions

Overview of Synthetic Stone Benchtops

Synthetic stone benchtops are engineered using crushed quartz or resin composite materials that create a tough, durable product that is non-absorbent. They resist staining, heat damage and scratches. They have a uniform colour, subtle veining and create a contemporary seamless appearance. They are easy to clean and maintain and can be recycled. They will enhance the appearance of kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces with a long-lasting, stylish finish.

Advantages of Synthetic Stone Benchtops

Durability and Strength

The benchtops are fabricated using a resin matrix with a high quartz content and are resistant to impacts, chips and cracks, thus holding their shape under use and being stable and visually consistent for the lifetime of the benchtop even after many years of use in the kitchen.

Low Maintenance and Cleaning

It's easy to clean non-porous, non-stain absorbing surfaces using just water and a light amount of soap. Because there is no need to seal them, they do not have the tendency to absorb fluids, making them hygienic and fresh for use in kitchens; and they will not retain small stains or fingerprints that can be easily wiped off.

Aesthetic Versatility

Environmental stone/composite tops have become a popular choice for both modern and traditional decor. Available in a variety of colors, patterns and textures, they imitate the look of natural stone by having uniform patterns and designs; thus allowing you to create "seamless" edges and joins.

Hygiene, Sustainability, and Longevity

Non-porous material will resist stains and growing bacteria, which will be beneficial for kitchens and bathrooms. Materials must be recyclable and have life cycles that lower the likelihood of needing replacements, reducing their overall environmental impact. They should continue to be reliable and have a fresh appearance for years of use.

Synthetic Stone Benchtops

Benchtops made from synthetic stone are made by fusing together crushed quartz (or processed resin) and forming a dense nonporous surface that typically has a consistent colour with some subtle variations in its vein pattern. These benchtops resist heat, staining and scratching, do not require sealing and have seamless joints between pieces. The edge profile can be made to suit any design, and cleaning can be done using mild cleaners, so keeping them clean is quite easy. They are durable, UV stable and recyclable, making them suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms, laboratories and hospitality environments.

F&Q About Synthetic Stone Benchtops

Are synthetic stone benchtops heat resistant?

Yes, synthetic stone tables are generally very heat resistant providing that pots/cookware are placed on something else while alluded to them. However, if using trivets ( for hot pots) and do not expose them to high heat for extended periods of time, the finish will last longer and help prevent thermal shock due to direct exposure to flames.
They do not absorb liquid and do not need to be sealed to prevent staining. Can be easily cleaned with a soft cloth and a mild detergent and water; should not be cleaned with harsh chemicals as these may dull the finish; and should be dried after cleaning to retain the original shine.
The majority of synthetic stone benchtops are intended for use indoors where the UV exposure is controlled; a limited range of products are UV stable which are designed for use outdoors. However, some synthetic stone products that are suitable for outdoor areas, can suffer from inconsistent colour and long term performance due to extreme direct sunlight or high temperatures.
Most warranties include manufacturing defects and finish integrity for a certain duration, with seam repair or replacement support. We are available to help with the installation of the product(s), maintenance of the product(s) including tips, and provide access to panels as required to help extend the life of the product(s).
