Synthetic Quartz Countertop: Durable, Non-Porous & Low-Maintenance

Overview of Synthetic Quartz Countertop

Engineered quartz surfaces are made from synthetic quartz (natural quartz) combined with resins to create an easy to maintain and high-quality material. Engineered quartz surfaces provide excellent performance, stain resistance, and hygiene standards that are suitable for any application - whether residential kitchens, bathrooms, or commercial settings. Because engineered quartz surfaces are non-porous, they prevent absorbing spills and food particles; therefore they are also resistant to germs.

Advantages of Synthetic Quartz Countertop

Durability & Non-Porosity

Because engineered quartz is very strong, it resists scratches and impacts and does not absorb water (it is non-porous), thereby avoiding the potential for moisture to get in, which can help limit the growth of bacteria and make it easier to clean, as well as maintain a clean, beautiful surface in kitchens, bathrooms, and high-traffic areas for many years.

Consistent Pattern & Color

A manufactured quartz slab has a consistent style design; it has a unique style pattern with little-to-no variation in veining, making it all appear to be an entire slab in a showroom; being so consistent allows for simple layout designs, matching up and replacing cabinets or other items without any noticeable differences.

Low Maintenance & Stain Resistance

Does not require sealing; regular cleanings with water and, if desired, a light-duty soap will maintain the appearance of your stone surface like new. If something difficult to clean occurs, non-abrasive cleansers specifically for quartz will not damage the resin through the normal lifetime of the product.

Design Flexibility & Sustainability

Precise edge profiles can be produced in engineered quartz and have a variety of thicknesses from which to choose; therefore, multiple choices for design exist: contemporary, classic and more. The use of recycled material helps ensure that engineered quartz is an eco-friendly countertop option, and it does not hinder the aesthetic appeal and/or performance of the countertop.

Synthetic Quartz Countertop

Professional installation ensures durability; they also feature a seamless appearance and have no porous surfaces that require sealing. Since they consist of a combination of natural quartz and resins, they can be made into a beautiful surface that has better resistance to stains, scratching, and heat markings than most natural stone surfaces. They also have uniform colours and patterns/veining, as well as a large selection of edge options to make it easy to design your kitchens and bathrooms with cohesive designs. Finally, they do not require resealing, but can be cleaned easily after use.

F&Q About Synthetic Quartz Countertop

Is synthetic quartz countertop heat resistant?

Despite being highly durable, engineered quartz will not hold up to heat indefinitely. It’s best to use hot pads/trivets for stovetop/high temperature pans and do not place them in contact with your oven or stovetop surfaces.
No sealing needed. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water continues to keep the surface looking like new, while a non-abrasive quartz-specific cleaner can remove hard-to-remove residue without damaging the resin-bound material over a long time.
Due to its non-porous nature, engineered quartz is resistant to most types of staining. However, you should wipe up acidic or highly pigmented liquid spills as soon as possible so that they do not dull the surface or cause temporary discoloration.
Quartz countertops are available in many different thicknesses (2 cm or 3 cm) and with different edge profiles (squared, eased, beveled, or bullnose). The type of edge profile and the thickness of the quartz will depend on your cabinet style, budget for this project, and whether or not it's modern or traditional in style.
